Just when I thought that CoverGirl LashBlast Luxe was irreplaceable as king of drugstore mascaras, this one comes along and steals the show. I can tell that this is the kind of product that you either love or hate, and personally for me, it's love.
When I ripped the cardboard off, the first thing I noticed and was pleasantly surprised by was the really nice packaging. It's a lot heftier than most mascaras and that's something I expect from department store picks. I'm not sure what the packaging is made of but it doesn't feel like cheap plastic. So so far I am liking! I pull the wand out and oh good golly, it's the most ginormous wand I have ever seen in my life, comparable to Yves Rocher's Sexy Pulp which, if you have seen either, is huge. I know some people hate big, fat mascara wands but I really really like them. I would almost venture to say that I only really like mascaras with big, fat wands, eg. Buxom Lash Mascara and CoverGirl LashBlast Luxe. I just think they do a better job at making my lashes look full and long and voluminous. I'm not very picky with bristles, but this one has a proper brush and not plastic bristles.
I really love the way this applies - it doesn't tug at the lashes too much but it does provide a whole lot of length and volume. It is the kind of product that needs some working in to build it up to make my lashes look how I want them to, but the formula definitely accommodates that. I find it very difficult to work with mascaras that dry so quickly that when you try to put on a second coat, it just feels like your brush is scratching at dried mascara, and then it's just downhill from there with clumps and flakes and all sorts of gross stuff going on.
My natural lashes are already pretty long and full so it's hard for me to discern growth, but if you are looking for a great lengthening and volumizing mascara, I highly recommend this one!
I picked up this product on the recommendation of Tanya Burr or pixi2woo on Youtube because I trust her opinion a hundred percent. None of her recommendations have ever steered me wrong! Thanks, Tanya! :)

ReplyDeleteI really like you reviews, and posts in general, and the simplicity and elegance of your blog that always keeps me getting back to see if you posted something new. Your entries are all so tied-up together (in a good way), the photos are really well taking and everything else, such as the layout, how you space the content of each post, make it very easy on the eyes. x
